Maca Bana is a laid back, eco-luxury resort located next to the mile-long Magazine Beach in the south of Grenada, offering just 7 one-, two- and three-bedroom villas. The small property allows guests to enjoy the natural elegance of their solar-powered ‘bana’ which boasts a private hot tub, fully-equipped kitchen and wonderful sea views.
Each villa is unique in personality and décor, all positioned on the hillside surrounded by mature landscaped tropical gardens. Open plan kitchens lead to comfortable sitting rooms, with French doors opening onto spacious hardwood decks and covered dining areas. The views across the bay to the island's capital, St George’s, are framed by the turquoise sea on one side and the rainforest covered mountains on the other.
Maca Bana has a beachside restaurant which serves a fusion of Caribbean and international cuisine, full of local inspiration and ingredients which have been harvested from the property’s organic farm. As its name suggests, Aquarium restaurant comes complete with two expansive seawater aquariums bringing the coral reef into the beautiful beach side dining room. The bar is furnished with funky rattan furniture and overlooks a new Koi pond with waterfall from the natural cliff face.
Set within two acres of tropical gardens, the resort offers a range of extra facilities and activities including an infinity-edge swimming pool. Guests can enjoy a wide range of spa treatments inside their villa or on their sun-deck, while private yoga and meditation sessions are also available. Magazine Beach is just steps away, the perfect place for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing.
Those looking to learn something new can take a cookery lesson with the chefs from Aquarium Restaurant, who will teach guests to prepare local dishes in the privacy of their villa’s kitchen. Private art classes are also available, as are island tours, boat cruises and and other excursions.
Maca Bana is committed to protecting the environment, having installed solar-powered water heaters and solar panels which power the villas. The hotel also owns a plot of ground on which they have established an organic farm, providing Aquarium Restaurant with fresh produce including lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, herbs and spices. Guests at the hotel can go on 'Slow Food' excursions where they forage for ingredients, meet local farmers then enjoy dishes created with this produce.
Maca Bana has some of the best views in Grenada due to it's location high above Magazine Beach. With just 7 villas, the resort really is the epitome of peace and quiet and every room has it's own hot tub offering stunning views in each direction. Each suite has a full fitted kitchen and is uniquely designed offering everything you need for a perfect stay - why would you need to leave?
Aquarium restaurant is just steps away, offering a great range of dishes overlooking the stunning beach with live music and it's famous BBQ on Sunday afternoon - a great place to relax if you can bear to leave your villa!
