Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives has a ‘no news, no shoes’ approach to barefoot luxury, occupying a small coral island with sophisticated accommodation and facilities. All of the spacious, beautifully crafted suites and villas are on stilts over the lagoon, some only be reached by boat to afford guests the maximum privacy.

The majority of the accommodation at Gili Lankanfushi is accessed via one three jetties, offering privacy and constructed in natural materials including timber and thatch. Meanwhile a rooftop terrace offers an additional space in which to relax with stunning, panoramic views. Crusoe Residences and the Private Reserve can only be reached by boat to promise total privacy, with the latter occupying 1400 square metres and accommodating up to 8 adults with a private spa facility and personal butler.
Gili Lankanfushi’s restaurants, swimming pool and tennis courts are all located on the main island, while the bar is set over the water to provide a unique, relaxing setting. The main restaurant offers a variety of fresh and local produce, while the Over Water Grill serves serves the freshest seafood and choice cuts of meat. By The Sea presents a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine in an intimate setting. Guests can also choose to dine in their villas, in the vegetable gardens, or in a range of private, island locations. They can also take the opportunity to join the sommelier in the underground cellar for wine, cheese and chocolate tastings.
Gili Lankanfushi offers an excellent range of watersports and a PADI accredited dive centre, while possible excursions including guided snorkeling and dolphin cruises. Meera Spa offers a range of holistic therapies in an overwater setting with glass floor panels, allowing guests to take in panoramic ocean views.

Children: Children are welcome all year round, but it is not ideal unless they are water babies!
Transfers: Gili Lankanfushi is 15 minutes by speedboat from Male, and the resort time is one hour ahead of official Maldives time.
Check In/Out: Guests are asked to check in from 2pm and out by 12 noon.

Dining: The main restaurant caters for all tastes and is open for lunch and dinner, while By the Sea is a Japanese restaurant serving Asian dishes overlooking the water. Lunch is available at the Overwater Bar where salads, seafood and tapas are served, or at the Pool Bar. The Underground Wine Cellar & Chocolate Cave hosts wine tasting and wine dinners hosted by a sommelier, while a range of Destination Dining options are available. Choose between a dinner on the beach, a table in the organic garden, a private experience on a desert island, or an intimate meal at the Jungle Cinema.
All the accommodation is in beautiful wooden, thatched villas sitting on stilts over the turquoise waters of the lagoon. There are 29 villa suites, one of which has a spa suite, 8 further luxury villas known as Residences (one of which has a spa suite), 7 Crusoe Residences and one Private Reserve. Gili Lankanfushi has ‘no news/no shoes’ ethos but guests may request Wi-Fi and audio equipment. Villa Suites: (210 sq. m.) The interiors have a contemporary feel with silvery wood and thatched roofs visible from the inside being a major feature. The living area is open to the ocean where guests can step down to the large deck with two hammocks, two sun loungers under an umbrella and a comfortable sitting area both outside and in, along with a dining area. The bedroom has air conditioning, a king size bed with drapes plus a writing desk and seating to enjoy the view through glazed windows. The partially open-air private bathroom has a ceiling fan, two vanity units, a WC, a bathtub with views. There are steps to the ocean as well as a roof top sundeck overlooking the island with a daybed and dining table for four.
Residences: (250 sq. m.) In addition to the features found in the Villa Suites, this spacious villa has a living room with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, 2 large daybeds and a dining table (this area can be changed to accommodate a second bedroom); a king size bed and some with two single beds; the partially open-air bathroom also features a glass walled shower area and the Residence has a mini wine cellar.
Crusoe Residences: (250 sq. m.) Similar features to the Residences but with steps into lagoon from deck area, an over water hammock, a ground floor deck facing the island.
Private Reserve: Size: 1,400 sq. m. On stilts in the middle of the lagoon, it offers the ultimate in luxury with 2 master suites where all bedrooms have air conditioning, and a spa, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas and sundecks, 1 guest room with en suite, large living area with sea garden including a coral pool, with daybeds, viewing decks, 2 open-air bathrooms one with a 2-person bathtub, private couple’s spa, air conditioned gym, potential business lounge with laptop and printer, private cinema, Mr & Mrs Friday 24-hour butler service, a kitchen, guests select wines for cellar, a water slide from the top deck, 2 roof top terraces and sea level sundecks.
