Having travelled to long haul destinations with three children on many occasions, we have first-hand experience of family holidays in the Caribbean and we have compiled the below list of the hotels we recommend as family friendly. To explain, in our minds at Tropic Breeze, a family friendly hotel in the Caribbean is one which welcomes young children and it is a pleasure to stay in as a family. Set in 60 acres of hillside overlooking La Brelotte Bay on the northwest coast of St Lucia, Windjammer Landing has the prime location for a perfect family holiday. With all the facilities readily accessible within a stone’s throw, it makes for a hassle-free trip. As a resort they are extremely accommodating towards children and their needs, with a complimentary children’s club (running through to the evening), babysitting and children’s menus at many of the restaurants, and a vast amount of activities to keep them entertained. Guests can even opt for the all inclusive package to save paying for all those ice creams every time!
For peace of mind, guests can stay at St James Club Morgan Bay knowing that their children are well catered for and looked after at the Kids Club. Children aged 2 and above have access to a stimulating and fun time with professionals keeping them busy for some ‘grown-up time’. Similarly, a nursery is provided for those babies up to the age of 23 months, and teenagers can use the teen centre – children of all ages are perfectly catered for. As well as the Kids Club, St James Club has a children’s pool and a range of water activities on site to keep them entertained. The resort also aims to be as flexible as possible when meeting guests’ accommodation requirements in terms of beds and cots etc. so that parents can be with or without children in certain rooms.

Located on the platinum west coast, set along a prime 750 foot stretch of serene beach, the luxury hotel is a great location for families. ‘Freddie the Flying Fish Kids Club’ is available for children aged between 3 and 12 and is operated by trained, professional staff providing a wide range of fun filled activities. Families can even schedule offsite visits to swim with sea turtles or take in some of the best sights in Barbados. There really is something for every family at Crystal Cove, and the staff are more than willing to be of any assistance and provide items to make the family holiday run as smoothly as possible.
Welcoming to families all year-round, The Verandah Resort and Spa has a beachfront location on the north east coast. The great benefit of booking a holiday to the Verandah is that they offer optimum flexibility in their accommodation, with all of their rooms accommodating at least 4 people and some rooms are interconnecting with each other. This makes it an affordable get away for families and larger groups. Similarly, there are programmes in place for children from the ages of 7 years old, all the way up to teenagers. This can include activities such as raft building, five-a-side football, zip-wiring and star fish hunting!
