Set in lush tropical gardens among the ruins of a 17th century sugar plantation, the Sugar Mill offers a unique blend of island informality and romantic charm.
Close to the hotel is an attractive sandy beach with a small offshore reef, allowing excellent snorkelling. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool in the gardens, equipped with hammocks and sun loungers.
The Sugar Mill has a first class restaurant, widely regarded as one of the best in the Caribbean, serving a clever mix of Californian and West Indian dishes. Dinner is served by candlelight in the attractive stone building that was once the plantation's rum distillery. Early dinner reservations are essential and the half board option is recommended.
The hotel has just 24 rooms with excellent views of the ocean or the tropical gardens.
In February 2000 the new Plantation House was completed, providing two spacious suites, each with a superb ocean view. In addition there is a two bedroom villa.
