Caribbean Holidays : British Virgin Islands : Language
English is the main language throughout the islands. The local creole accent is steeped in the islands history due to the Dutch, Danish and French settlers. The th sound may often be softened, so that 'the' and 'this', sound as 'de' and 'dis', or 'thing' becomes 'ting'. 'Him' and 'her' may become 'he' or 'she'.
