The easternmost of the Caribbean islands, Barbados has justifiably earned a reputation as a stylish and popular holiday destination. With over 60 miles of superb sandy beaches, an average temperature in the high 20's, 9 hours sunshine a day and a steady cooling Atlantic breeze, Barbados is the ideal year-round choice for a relaxing break in the sun.
Barbados has an excellent range of top quality accommodation. Whether you are seeking a luxury 5 star hotel, a quiet retreat, or a family self-catering apartment, you will be certain of finding something to meet your requirements.
Away from the beaches there is plenty to see and do by day and night. The island is relatively flat with gentle, undulating hills covered with a variety of lush green vegetation and pretty tropical flowers.
Bright colourful gingerbread houses and former sugar plantations are common and the picturesque fishing villages are well worth a visit. Horse-racing and cricket are popular sports. In the evening, you may find live steel bands, jazz or perhaps a visiting troupe performing opera or theatre, in addition to a good range of night clubs, mainly to be found at St Lawrence's Gap.
