Kandima is a unique lifestyle resort in the Maldives which is stylish yet playful, occupying a lush tropical island surrounded by a large natural lagoon in Dhaalu Atoll. The spacious island is home to fantastic facilities including ten bars and restaurants, one of the longest swimming pools in the Maldives and one of the largest areas for children. Guests can rent bikes to explore or hop on the small bus that regularly drives up and down the 3km long island.
Accommodation is in 266 contemporary studios and villas which either line the beach, are set partly on the beach and partly over the water, or are on stilts over the lagoon. Interiors are stylish and feature light wood floors, white walls and pale furniture complemented by colourful rugs and soft furnishings in hues of blue, green and yellow. Options include Studios which occupy two-storey blocks, Beach Pool Villas which are located in a secluded area at the northern end of the island and Aqua Villas which are luxurious over-water retreats offering spectacular views throughout.
Kandima is great for those who wish to be sociable, with common areas including a games room and library as well as poolside bars where DJs regularly play and themed parties are held.
Other facilities include an art studio, the esKape Spa where guests can enjoy treatments al fresco overlooking the eastern shore and a fitness centre which is open 24 hours per day and offers a vast range of activities including pilates, yoga and boxing. There is also a marine biology centre, a dive centre and a water sports centre where guests can windsurf, kayak, kitesurf, jet ski and stand up paddle board. The island is surrounded by a fantastic reef which is 5 minutes away by boat, with complimentary snorkelling excursions offered for all guests. Scuba diving courses are also available for all abilities plus trips to nearby dive sites including a hammerhead shark point and turtle cave, while children can have a go thanks to the Bubblemaker course.
As well as offering a range of leisure options for adults, Kandima is also home to Kandiland kids club, a colourful facility with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. A multilingual team offer a daily programme of fun and cultural activities throughout the day, complimentary for 3 to 12 year olds.
Kandima offers fantastic Asian cuisine as well as international flavours, thanks to a wide range of dining venues which each occupies a stunning setting. From market-style buffet dining at Flavour and Zest to Mediterranean cuisine at Azure, grilled meat and fish at Smoked and authentic yet modern Chinese dishes at Sea Dragon, there really is something for everyone. For lighter meals, takeaway dishes and afternoon tea are available at Deli while Aroma serves freshly baked goods. Mouth-watering cocktails and other beverages are served throughout the day and night at The Beach Club and Breeze Pool Bar, both of which also hold daily happy hours, while Forbidden Bar is open to adults most evenings and often hosts white parties.

Kandima is a large resort which offers a unique lifestyle experience, with friendly staff and high standards throughout. Food and drinks venues are excellent and cater for different tastes, with one bar providing a quiet space to relax in the evening while another hosts more lively evening entertainment. There is a great range of room types, from second floor studios which offer stunning views to water villas where guests can watch dolphins swimming past. A wonderful coral reef is reached by a 5 minute boat ride, with 6 complimentary snorkelling trips organised each day.
Children: Children are welcome. Kandiland Kids Club is open daily 10am – 8pm and is complimentary for all children. Private babysitting is also available at a cost.
Transfers: Kandima is reached by a 30 minute domestic flight from Male International Airport followed by a 20 minute speedboat transfer.

Meal Arrangements: Guests can stay on a bed & breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive basis. Bed & breakfast, full board and full board packages include buffet meals at Flavour or Zest restaurants and include soft drinks during meal times. All-inclusive includes meals at 10 different restaurants and bars, unlimited consumption of a selection of beverages, an in-room minibar (restocked daily) and a range of other benefits. New for 2019, Kandima has also launched a brand new dine around all inclusive meal plan - guests can visit the buffet restaurants, a la carte and have unlimited access to a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout their stay.
Dining: There is a fantastic range of bars and restaurants at Kandima, all either found in the middle of the island or at one end by the water villas. Flavour and Zest are market-style buffet restaurants with live cooking stations and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Azure offers Mediterranean cuisine on the beach for lunch and dinner. Sea Dragon is a waterfront restaurant serving authentic Chinese cuisine, while the adjoining Forbidden Bar offers mouth-watering cocktails with live DJs. Smoked is a beachfront dining venue with an open BBQ kitchen, serving freshly grilled fish and meat accompanied by incredible sunset views. Aroma serves fresh coffee and baked goods overlooking a lake, while the on-site deli offers a range of snacks. The Beach Club and Breeze are both poolside bars where DJs play by night, with the latter offering nightly themed happy hours.
All studios and suites are modern and stylish, each with sliding French doors leading out from the bedroom onto a private terrace offering sea views. All studios and villas have a maximum occupancy of 4 adults, except the Family Sky Studios which have a maximum occupancy of 4 adults.
Sky Studio: Located on the first floor of a two storey villa overlooking the beach, these studios feature a spacious bedroom with sofa bed, an en suite bathroom and a furnished terrace with daybed swing. (55sqm)
