Saint Lucia will be hosting a summer of festivals in 2017, showcasing the island’s artistic talent and heritage. Six separate events will be held over the summer months, each focusing on a different aspect of the island’s culture.
The summer festival will consist of:
Saint Lucia Jazz Festival (12 – 14 May): A long-standing jazz festival with live music performances, street parties and fashion shows held in over 15 stunning Saint Lucian venues. Music genres include jazz, calypso, soca and R&B, with artists coming from across the Caribbean and beyond.
Roots & Soul Festival (16 – 18 June): An event which is dedicated to musicians who are setting new trends in reggae, hip hop, Afro punk and R&B. Performances will take place across the island, some free of charge, culminating in a concert at the Pigeon Island National Landmark.
Saint Lucia Carnival (17 – 18 July): Carnival Monday is a lively and colourful day of celebration primarily in Castries, with dance parades and parties as well as a fantastic food scene. In the weeks leading up to the main carnival there are numerous events taking place, from parades to parties.
Saint Lucia Food & Rum Festival (24 – 27 August): A gastronomic event where Caribbean and international chefs, wine connoisseurs and food critics will come together for a few days of culinary demonstrations, rum and wine tasting, community dining experiences and musical performances.
Country & Blues Festival (15 – 17 September): An event which reflects the diversity of music genres that are rooted in Saint Lucian folk traditions.
Arts & Heritage Festival (October): A month-long festival which celebrates the island’s cultural, ethnic and artistic heritage. Building on Jounen Kweyol (Creole Day), the event includes a variety of performances, seminars, lectures, culinary experiences and art exhibitions.
