Fact File»

Six Senses Laamu is a truly unique island paradise in the Maldives, the only resort in the Laamu Atoll which is accesible by an inter-island flight from Male and short speedboat transfer. The luxurious, eco-sensitive resort is a perfect destination for couples, families and friends looking to relax on pristine beaches, enjoy glorious sunsets from weathered timber jetties or snorkel around its stunning house reef.

The 97 villas are constructed from sustainable bamboo and local materials and sit on stilts above the Indian Ocean or nestle on land amid the forest of palms. Each villa is contemporary in its design and use of brightly coloured furnishings, while maintaining an eco-friendly feel. With all the features guests might expect from five-star accommodation, added luxuries include angled beds to maximize ocean views, treetop decks, net hammocks and glass tables overlooking the sea. There are even glass over-water bathtubs with uninterrupted ocean views, allowing guests to enjoy the serenity of Six Senses Laamu at all times.

Dining is of the highest standard whether it’s in one of the six restaurants and bars or even delivered to you on a sandbank! Leaf Restaurant serves Maldivian cuisine using local produce where guests can choose to eat alongside others at a communal table or privately. Offering a Japanese menu including sushi and sashimi dishes, Zen features a live kitchen on a deck overlooking the ocean, while Longitude serves international cuisine in an open-air, two storey restaurant with stunning views. Desserts are also served in the Ice & Chocolate Studio while the Chill Lounge & Bar hovers in different levels above the water and Sip Sip offers casual all day dining beside the pool.

Six Senses Laamu has a spectacular house reef with many parrot fish and green turtles - guests can snorkel, scuba dive and learn more from a resident marine biologist about the underwater world. The concierge team can also arrange trips to nearby dive sites. Another attraction of the island is Yin Yang, the most famous surfing wave in the Maldives which breaks just offshore. As well as surfing, other available water sports include wakeboarding, waterskiing, windsurfing and catamaran sailing. Back on dry land, guests can explore by bicycle while facilities include a seaside library, a candlelit Jungle Cinema, a fully-equipped gym and a yoga pavilion. Exucrusions allow guests to explore uninhabited islands, go island hopping, dine on deserted sandbanks and watch the sunset from a private boat surrounded by dolphins.

The resort is family-friendly and offers a professional children's club, The Den, which organises outdoor games, arts and crafts, treasure hunts and much more. Other activiites for all ages include volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, cycling and board games.

The Six Senses Spa is a haven of peace and harmony with unique couple's treatment nests and an Ayurveda pavilion. Highly skilled therapists use a variety of natural products to provide a fantastic range of massages, facials, rituals, holistic therapies and beauty treatments.
