Huvafen Fushi is a stunning resort occupying a tiny island in North Male Atoll just 30 minutes away from Male airport, perfect for honeymooners thanks to the stunning surroundings and romantic atmosphere. A highlight of the resort is the underwater spa with treatment rooms for couples, allowing guests to relax while watching the colourful marine life pass by.
The exclusive accommodation is in 44 luxurious and modern villas which either line the shore or are on stilts over the lagoon, all with a private plunge pool and direct access to the beach or the water. Beach bungalows are light and airy with a private garden area, while overwater accommodations boast glass panels in the floor with tropical fish swimming by.
There are four restaurants serving a range of delicious cuisine, from all-day dining at Celsius and wood-fired pizzas at Forno to Japanese dishes with a Latin twist at Feeling Koi and innovative raw cuisine at Raw. For special occasions, the hotel will be pleased to arrange destination dining in your villa, by the fibre optic-lit infinity pool or even on a deserted sandbank reached by boat! Guests can relax with a drink at the cocktail bar or in the underground wine cellar which holds 6000 wines.
Facilities at the resort include the world's first underwater spa, where guests can enjoy relaxing treatments while gazing at the colourful marine life. There is also a yoga pavilion, a fibre optic-lit infinity pool, a saltwater flotation pool and a well-stocked library with a good selection of DVDs.
Huvafen Fushi has an exhilarating water sports and activities centre called 'FLOAT', allowing guests to snorkel over the house reef, go kayaking or try their hand at sailing, wake boarding and water skiing. There are also some fantastic dive sites nearby to explore – novices can take a two and a half day ‘Discover Scuba Diving’ course or train for their PADI licence in crystal clear waters.

I’ve been to Huvafen Fushi twice, once just before it opened when the underwater spa was still sitting on the beach and the second time when the hotel was operational and fully up to speed. If you want an uber-modern island for your Maldives holiday, this could be the one for you.
The pool at night sparkles with thousands of fibre optic cables buries in the base and the bar has built in seating making it look a little like a multi tiered wedding cake, you really have to see it to understand it fully. As a Maldives hotel, Huvafen Fushi offers everything you could need or want.
