Jo Visits Anguilla

Posted on

Anguilla is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, from long stretches of white sand to picture perfect crescent bays and secluded coves. The island is also a fantastic choice for those looking for a gastronomic getaway, with exceptional cuisine served across the island in tiny beach bars as well as exclusive restaurants.  It has been a while since any of the Tropic Breeze team have visited Anguilla, so in November 2023 Jo went out to re-discover this unique Caribbean destination.

Choose your route to Paradise

There are two recommended ways to travel to Anguilla. One option is to fly with Air France via Paris to St Martin, and from there take a ferry to Anguilla. Jo however flew into Antigua, from where you can take an onward flight with either Trans Anguilla or Anguilla Air Services. We would highly recommend staying a few nights in Antigua before travelling on to Anguilla, as you will have the chance to experience two contrasting yet equally beautiful islands.

Choose your Accommodation

Accommodation options range from luxury resorts and boutique hotels to self-catered villa suites, meaning that there is something to suit a variety of budgets and preferences. We will take a brief look at some of Jo’s top picks from her trip, but for more information about hotel options in Anguilla, please contact us on 01752 880880.

Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel

Jo was lucky enough to stay at Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel whilst she was in Anguilla. This luxurious resort is set in 179 acres of tropical gardens alongside a mile of white, sandy beach. The hotel offers a range of stylish rooms, suites and villas, all of which overlook the beach and offer stunning ocean views. With an excellent culinary reputation, guests are offered four varied dining options ranging from fine dining to a casual beachside grill. Jo enjoyed some exceptional cuisine here – it was one of the highlights of her trip.

Malliouhana

Malliouhana is perched atop a panoramic bluff overlooking the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea. With just 44 rooms and suites, this boutique resort is perfectly suited to couples looking for a sophisticated retreat. Guests can enjoy innovative cuisine at Celeste, where Mediterranean influences combine with Anguillan produce, as well as laid back dining directly on Mead’s Bay Beach. Jo found the staff to be warm and welcoming, and the views from all corners of the property simply stunning.

Carimar Beach Club

Carimar Beach Club offers guests a laidback stay beside a gently sloping beach that leads into shimmering, turquoise waters. Accommodation comprises one or two bedroom self-catering suites positioned just a few steps from the beach. There are plenty of excellent dining options nearby, and for Jo, one of the highlights of this charming property is it’s location. This is an ideal option for those who want a stunning stretch of beach but prefer the flexibility of self-catering holiday.

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club is a five-star resort boasting extensive facilities, including an 18-hole championship golf course. A new Entertainment Park ensures there are plenty of activities on offer, whether you are travelling as a family or as a couple. Accommodation is found in two distinct areas – Merrywing Bay has a lively atmosphere and is where guests will find most of the resort’s entertainment facilities, whilst Rendezvous Beach is suited to those looking for a more peaceful retreat.

At Tropic Breeze we specialise in using our personal knowledge of each hotel to offer the best recommendations based on our extensive experience of the  CaribbeanMaldives,  Mauritius and Seychelles. If you would like further information on any of our properties or a quote call us on 01752 880 880 or email info@tropicbreeze.co.uk
