Kate and Jessie go Island Hopping

Posted on

Travel Specialists Jessie and Kate have recently been on an island hopping trip that took them to Barbados and The Grenadines. It is easy to combine these two contrasting Caribbean destinations, allowing visitors to experience both the lively atmosphere of Barbados and the slow pace of life in the Grenadines. Once in The Grenadines, those wanting to experience more than one island can make use of an excellent local ferry service to explore further. We’ll hand you over to Kate to share the highlights of their trip and the hotels they visited…

Our Island Hopping Adventure

Working in the Sales Team at Tropic Breeze we get the chance to visit some wonderful places, but the most recent trip that Jessie and I were lucky enough to take together really was something special. Flying out to Barbados, we spent four days there staying at properties across the west and south coast before heading over to the Grenadines where the adventure really started! We took a flight to Union Island and boat transfer to Palm Island for our first night, a ferry to Kingstown and then a short hop across to Young Island for our second night and finally a stunning ferry journey to Bequia for our final two nights.

Cobblers Cove was our first stop in Barbados. We arrived just in time for sundowners overlooking the Caribbean Sea, which really was a perfect welcome. We enjoyed a delicious meal followed by a good night’s sleep in our beautifully appointed and spacious suites. With its calm and peaceful atmosphere and attentive service, it is very easy to relax at Cobblers Cove.

Our second night was spent at Coral Reef Club, a beautiful resort set in 12 acres of incredible grounds. Guests return to Coral Reef year after year, and we could see why, with the staff greeting all the guests like old friends. The resort has a stylish country club feel, and evenings are a more formal affair giving guests a great excuse to get a little dressed up for dinner.

On day three we stayed the night at The Sandpiper. Located just outside Holetown, this is an ideal spot to enjoy the many dining options nearby, yet private enough to feel like you’re tucked away from the world. We loved the personable nature of the staff and found Harold’s Bar to have a great atmosphere both in the daytime for drinks and into the evening for a more informal dinner.

Our final night in Barbados was spent on the south coast at Sea Breeze Beach House. The resort offers everything you could want in an all-inclusive property and we loved the laid-back atmosphere. We stayed in the Oceanfront Junior Suites and found them to be spacious and very stylish with beautiful views. If you’re lucky you can even spot turtles from the balcony!

Moving onto The Grenadines was something that we were incredibly excited about. After a short flight and a boat ride, we were arriving on Palm Island and were welcomed with warm smiles and cold rum punches by the wonderful team there. We were in paradise! This really is the place for anyone who just wants to switch off. Bikes are available for everyone, and I would highly recommend taking one to explore the island – look out for the tortoises, iguanas, and plentiful birdlife. Cycling around the island at 7am with happy tears streaming down my face was an experience I will remember forever.

Onto Young Island, and an island that gives you a real ‘Robinson Crusoe’ feeling while still being only 200 yards from the main island of St Vincent. The island has a rustic and laid-back feel, and we found the staff to be really friendly and the food to be excellent! After the night in our Luxury Room with Plunge Pool, we spent the morning exploring the rest of the lush and natural island, climbing to the very top for breath-taking views towards Bequia and Mustique.

The final leg of our journey took us to Bequia and two nights at Bequia Beach Hotel. We felt as though we had been transported back in time as we walked into the sumptuous reception area for welcome drinks. After being shown to our beautiful Beachfront Suites we enjoyed a delicious dinner at our table overlooking the water – bliss! Bequia is a beautiful island that gives new meaning to laid back and relaxed. Getting out and exploring is easy and a visit to Jack’s Bar at Princess Margaret Beach is an absolute must, but then so is a day relaxing by the stunning infinity pool at Bequia Beach Hotel!

At Tropic Breeze we specialise in using our personal knowledge of each hotel to offer the best recommendations based on our extensive experience of the Caribbean. If you would like further information, please call us on 01752 880 880 or email info@tropicbreeze.co.uk
