Ozen by Atmosphere
Part of the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts group along with Atmosphere Kanifushi, OBLU at Helengeli and the newer OBLU Select at Sangeli (see below), Ozen is a luxurious all-inclusive resort in South Male Atoll. Spread across two tranquil islands, the resort opened in July 2016 and offers a contemporary style that complements the natural surroundings. Accommodation is in spacious villas which line the beach or stretch out over the lagoon, many with a private plunge pool for added indulgence.
The superb all-inclusive package covers almost everything you might need, from a range of dining options to fantastic activities. Dining options include gourmet restaurants serving world cuisine and more casual daytime venues, plus an exclusive underwater restaurant that guests can dine at once per week. A premium selection of drinks is also included, from cocktails to exotic beers, wines and Champagne. Facilities on the island include an exclusive spa, a complimentary kids club, a fitness centre, a PADI dive school and a water sports centre where guests can borrow non-motorised water sports equipment free of charge. For added indulgence, guests staying at least 4 nights receive at least one complimentary spa treatment or scuba dive.
Reethi Faru
Having opened at the end of 2017, Reethi Faru is a sister resort to the popular Reethi Beach Resort. Occupying a tiny island in Raa Atoll with a vibrant house reef just off shore, the resort is committed to conservation and minimising its impact on the local environment. Villas have been built using locally sourced materials and are positioned to blend with nature either amid gardens, along the beachfront or on stilts over the lagoon. Four bars and five restaurants are spread across the island overlooking the lagoon or by the pool, offering a la carte and buffet dining throughout the day and night.
Leisure facilities include a Health & Sports Centre where guests can play badminton, squash, tennis and beach volleyball, while yoga, pilates and dance classes are also available. There is a 25 metre infinity pool where water polo and aqua aerobics sessions are held, plus guests can take part in a range of water sports from paddle boarding to parasailing and scuba diving. A range of excursions are also available including visits to local islands, sunset boat trips and snorkelling excursions. For those looking to relax, The Coconut Spa offers a range of relaxing treatments including Ayurveda.
The Fairmont Maldives, Sirru Fen Fushi
One of the world’s most luxurious brands has just opened its first resort in the Maldives and is already receiving rave reviews! The name of the exclusive resort translates to Secret Water Island, with 120 villas occupying a 16 hectare island surrounded by one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives. Highlights at The Fairmont include a 100-metre long swimming pool, a vast spa and a spectacular underwater sculpture installation. As the only resort in the Shaviyani Atoll, the waters surrounding the island are home to an abundance of marine life including manta rays, turtles and dolphins, with a vast house reef accessible from the beach.
Each of the rustic yet elegant beach and water villas has its own private pool, while the vast Tented Jungle Villa offers a castaway experience. Four dining options offer a world of culinary experiences, with the all-bamboo poolside bar providing a beautiful spot for drinks with gorgeous sunset views. Guests can occupy themselves by diving or snorkelling, taking cooking or Thai boxing classes, playing tennis or football, going on excursions to local islands or setting sail on a sunset dolphin cruise. Families are well catered for thanks to the kid’s club, toddler’s play garden and teen activity centre.
OBLU Select at Sangeli
Another member of the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts group, OBLU Select is due to open in July 2018 and is sure to be a very popular resort with extremely high standards like its sister properties. Located in North Male Atoll, the all-inclusive resort will offer colourful, contemporary villas and suites on the beach or over the water, some with private plunge pools. The beach villas and majority of the resort’s facilities are located on one island, with a walkway leading to the water villas and another smaller island where more facilities are found.
Dining experiences include the main buffet restaurant with live cooking stations, a gourmet vegetarian option and a grill restaurant serving fresh seafood and meat. As well as all meals and unlimited beverages (including a minibar which is restocked daily), the all-inclusive package also comprises regular live entertainment, a sunset fishing trip, an excursion, access to the gymnasium and kids club, and a selection of non-motorised water sports. Further to this there are two swimming pools (one of which is adults-only and a relaxing spa offering a range of wellness experiences, therapies and massages, while the house reef promises superb snorkelling and scuba diving.
