Exploring Barbados with Jo & Katie

Posted on

Tropic Breeze Founder Jo and Destinations Manager Katie, recently returned from a trip to Barbados. They were there to represent Tropic Breeze at a marketing event, but also made sure to find time to soak up the atmosphere of this incredible island! Barbados is a wonderful holiday destination, with a 60 mile coastline of white sand beach, picturesque fishing villages, friendly locals, gourmet cuisine and plenty to see and do. Katie and Jo couldn’t resist getting out to enjoy some of the island’s highlights.

Heading down to Pebbles Beach at 5.45am, Jo and Katie were lucky enough to see the racehorses being brought down from the Garrison Savannah for their morning swim. The horses arrive in large numbers and are guided down by a groom into the sea to cool down, bathe, and generally enjoy themselves. Swimming is also a great way to keep the horses fit without risk of injury, and you will often see the grooms taking horses quite far out. It is an incredible sight and worth the early start!

Dining at The Fish Pot is a great experience for all gourmet food lovers, and Jo and Katie went there for breakfast during their trip. Housed within an original fort and overlooking the beach and Caribbean Sea, it’s a picturesque location with stunning views and an incredible menu. Boasting plenty of locally caught seafood, The Fish Pot serves Caribbean cuisine alongside international favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After a fantastic meal, there’s only one way to spend the day – sipping cocktails at the beach! Sea Shed Barbados is the perfect location. Set on Mullins Beach, guests can enjoy a comfortable sun lounger overlooking the turquoise sea, whilst cocktails and a range of dishes are served direct to your chair. There is no better place to relax and soak up the atmosphere on one of the island’s finest beaches.

One of the best ways to explore the Caribbean is by boat and in Barbados it doesn’t get much better than a Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruise. These boats are elegant, built for comfort and operated by warm and welcoming crew. Guests can enjoy a selection of chilled wines and custom made cocktails, alongside delicious cuisine prepared by the onboard chef. Jo and Katie particularly enjoyed the two snorkelling stops – the first allowed them to swim with turtles, whilst the second was above a shipwreck.

Where to stay

Sea Breeze Beach House

Jo meanwhile stayed at Sea Breeze Beach House, an intimate, luxury all-inclusive resort also located on the south coast of the island. Whether you prefer to lounge with a custom cocktail at one of the three pools, indulge in award-winning local cuisine at one of the six dining destinations or soak up the sun on one of the two beaches, Sea Breeze Beach House has it all. With suites offering various room configurations, the resort is an ideal choice for both families and couples.

Fairmont Royal Pavilion

Jo also spent a night at Fairmont Royal Pavilion – a luxurious hotel located beside one of the finest beaches on the west coast of Barbados. Offering excellent service and fantastic facilities, the boutique property is an exclusive hideaway which is perfect for couples and families.
