Family fun in the Maldives

Posted on

In recent years the Maldives has become increasingly popular as a family holiday destination, but what is it that attracts them? The calm, crystal clear waters are great for swimming and snorkelling and the beaches are powder white. Many resorts offer exceptional children’s clubs and entertainment programmes, allowing younger guests to experience a true Maldivian adventure. Younger travellers can enjoy exploring the marine life and can take part in arts and crafts, games and sports. Nearly all resorts also offer babysitting facilities, giving parents the chance to enjoy some downtime.

Atmosphere Kanifushi is an all-inclusive resort situated in Lhaviyani Atoll and reached by seaplane from Male International airport. It is great for families thanks to spacious and stylish accommodation and there are plenty of exhilarating activities to do across the island. The Kids Club is available for children over the age of four and boasts an excellent programme of activities and learning experiences, from shell painting to crab racing and movie nights to origami. The two bedroom sunset family beach villa features two adjoining beach villas, each with their own private veranda, offering families plenty of space. For larger families, the Kanifushi Grande Residence can sleep up to seven!

The resort offers their unique all-inclusive Kanifushi Plan, giving guests a fantastic choice of restaurants to dine at. Dining options include Just Veg, one of the first vegetarian-only venues in the Maldives, and The Spice, offering buffet-style meals with exciting themed nights throughout the week.

It’s in the name! Ailafushi Island means Family Island, and OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi is the perfect destination for families looking for a resort with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are modern and homely, and with a combination of hotel style rooms, beach villas and water villas, there are options to suit everyone. The two bedroom family ocean rooms are set in the heart of the island boasting a lavish master suite for parents, with an adjoining children’s suite. The suite is decorated with storybook art, playful designs and bunkbeds, designed to help children feel at home.

The Kids Club at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi is one of the largest in the Maldives with two separate levels for older and younger children. It has its own pool, games arcade with modern consoles and dedicated food venues serving pasta, pizza and cakes. The ultimate Fushi Plan boasts unlimited drinks, delicious cuisine, complimentary 30-minute watersports daily, live music with a dance floor, and plenty of memorable moments with your loved ones.

OBLU Select Sangeli is great for families thanks to the fantastic kids club and the family suites, which are some of the largest in the Maldives. These spacious suites feature a master bedroom and a separate twin bedroom, both with en-suite open-air bathrooms, a spacious living area, a sundeck with direct beach access and a private pool. The beach villas and majority of the resort’s facilities are located on one island, while a jetty leads to a smaller, adults-only island called One Banyan where more facilities are found.

The Kids Club boasts trampolines, its own pool and a slide that leads directly into the ocean! The perfect place to play, splash and swim. Adults meanwhile can enjoy the facilities at ELE|NA spa, with complimentary treatments included depending on length of stay. Thanks to the Serenity Plan, the island’s all-inclusive package, families can enjoy varied dining options and be entertained by fantastic facilities from tennis to yoga.

VARU by Atmosphere is an all-inclusive resort that blends contemporary designs with tropical beauty to create a laid-back resort perfect for families.
