Caribbean Twin Centres

Posted on

The Caribbean is an incredible tropical destination with so much to offer. Postcard beaches and clear cobalt waters. Award-winning resorts boasting high-end luxury or boutique hotels offering a chance to sample the lively local culture. Perhaps you want both an indulgent stay at a high-end establishment, but also to experience something a little more off the beaten track. Why not do both? Why not combine a stay at two different hotels on the same island – relax at one resort and soak up the atmosphere before moving on to another offering something completely different.

Barbados Twin Centre Holidays

Barbados is one of Tropic Breeze’s favourite Caribbean holiday destinations, with many members of the team having visited the island many times with their own families. The island’s main attraction is the coastline, with 60 miles of superb sandy beaches which are lapped by warm waters where visitors can lay back and relax. Inland, gently undulating hills are covered with lush vegetation, dotted with colourful gingerbread houses and historical sugar plantations. There are plenty of things to see and do, from wandering around picturesque fishing villages, to visiting botanical gardens, to enjoying a sunset boat cruise, to sampling rum at the Mount Gay Rum Distillery.

Why not try our East meets West package and experience 2 contrasting hotels on Barbados? We recommend a twin centre holiday between The Atlantis Historic Inn, a chic boutique hotel on the secluded east coast, and Little Good Harbour, a resort built around a restored 18th century fort.

The Atlantis Historic Inn

The Atlantis Historic Inn has an intimate, friendly atmosphere with just 10 ocean facing suites with views over the rugged coastline. The property has an excellent restaurant with an indoor seating area and an outdoor deck overlooking the beach and the crashing waves. The restaurant has an excellent menu and is a great place to indulge in a delicious desert! Their rum punches are one of the best we have experienced and their famous West Indian buffet lunches (every second and last Sunday of the month) are always in demand.

The stunning views make the hotel well worth a visit and provide an excellent contrast to the soft, sandy beaches often referred to as the ‘Platinum Coast’. The Atlantic coast of Barbados is less developed than the west coast, with high waves breaking over dramatic cliffs and rock formations. Guests staying at the Atlantis can take advantage of the consistent conditions by learning to surf, or they may prefer to watch experienced surfers at the renowned ‘Soup Bowl’ surf break which is found nearby.

Little Good Harbour

Little Good Harbour in Barbados is an intimate and stylish boutique hotel which incorporates a restored 18th century fort in Shermans, a small fishing village on the island’s north west coast. The focal point of the hotel is the renowned Fish Pot Restaurant, housed within the original fort (Fort Rupert) overlooking the beach. The restaurant is considered to be one of the best in Barbados serving fresh and simply prepared food in a stylish, yet casual setting.

Guests can spend their days lounging by one of the two swimming pools which can be found in the gardens, swimming and snorkelling in the warm sea, indulging in treatments in the serene Little Spa, or getting out and exploring the island. Located just a few miles north of Speightstown, Little Good Harbour is within easy reach of a range of historic attractions, most notably St Nicholas’ Abbey with it’s unique Heritage steam railway.

Antigua Twin Centre Holidays

Antigua is a popular holiday destination well known for its 365 white sand beaches  – one for every day of the year!  It is perfect for swimming and sailing and offers a wide range of hotels, including all inclusive resorts and smaller boutique hotels. In addition, there is a strong sense of history and British colonial charm. Wherever you choose to stay we  recommend a visit to Nelson’s Dockyard in English Harbour to take a step back in time . It is also well known as the place transatlantic rowers make landfall .

Tropic Breeze would recommend combining two hotels in Antigua that exude history and charm – The Great House Antigua and The Inn at English Harbour.

The Great House

Set in the sweeping 26 acre estate of Mercers Creek, The Great House Antigua is an adult only  boutique hotel set in a 350 year old historical house. The Great House contains many of its original features, as well as boasting stunning sea views among swaying palm trees. The experienced staff include a house manager, personal chef, security, waitress, kitchen assistant, maid and gardener.

Whilst staying at The Great House, three meals a day are provided, along with fruit platters and drinks by the pool. Guests are offered one wellness classes weekly ( varied programme)  including yoga, stretch, meditation or dance, all of which take place in the outdoor studio, overlooking the bay. Guests also have full use of the main house, the freedom to roam the grounds and use the main pool, plus the use of kayaks to explore the Mercers Creek waterfront.

The Inn at English Harbour

The Inn at English Harbour is an intimate, family-run beachfront hotel located on the southwest coast of Antigua, perfectly positioned on a beautiful wooded headland at the entrance of the historic English Harbour. Set within 19 acres of tropical gardens that sweep down to he white sand beach, it is a true gem. While quiet and peaceful, it is just a few minutes from the bars and restaurants of English Harbour ,which can be accessed either by taxi or by boat (daytime only).

The traditional Stone Bar and Terrace Restaurant in the original house provide a wonderful setting for afternoon tea or for an al fresco, candlelit dinner under the stars. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and drinks can be taken in the casual Beach Bar and Reef Restaurant, just steps from the sand and lapping waves. For those seeking a lively night out it is just a short drive from Shirley Heights , home to the famous Sunday night ‘jump up ‘ with reggae music and BBQ food providing the backdrop to a stunning antiguan sunset.

*Prices based on 2 adults sharing, including 3 nights at The Great House on a full-board basis, and 7 nights at The Inn at English Harbour on a half-board basis, private airport transfers and British Airways flights.

St Lucia Twin Centre Holidays

St Lucia is an excellent choice for a twin centre holiday as it offers two diverse holiday experiences. The south of the island is dominated by the famous Piton mountains and the tropical rainforests. Here, there  are wonderful opportunities for those wanting to hike the trails and climb the Pitons or for thrill seekers to zip wire through the rain forest canopy . There are the beautiful botanical gardens to explore and the opportunity to visit the world’s only drive through volcano .In addition the unspoilt coral reefs offer superb snorkelling and diving opportunities . The north west of the island has a gentler landscape with natural harbours and golden sand beaches.

For a contrasting experience in St Lucia, Tropic Breeze would recommend combining the beautiful beachfront setting of East Winds with the luscious rainforest location of Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat.

East Winds

East Winds in St Lucia is a premium all-inclusive resort on La Brelotte Bay, set in twelve acres of tropical gardens abundant with colourful plants and exotic birds. This boutique hotel offers understated luxury and is perfect for those looking to completely unwind.

East Winds offers exceptional and yet casual beachfront dining. Local produce is used wherever possible with vegetables grown by local farmers and herbs from the resort’s own herb garden. Freshly caught fish is always available, together with lobster, in season. All meals are served at the beachfront restaurant, The Flamboyant Room with breakfast and lunch buffet-style. Dinner is a four-course a la carte  menu six nights per week including international and Caribbean dishes. Once a week they offer their well known Caribbean BBQ, alongside daily entertainment.

Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat

Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat, is a St Lucian getaway with 25 private lodges, owned by the popular UK chocolatier, Hotel Chocolat , occupying the island’s oldest cacao estate just a few miles from the coast. Set in the lush nature of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hotel Chocolat has rejuvenated the cacao groves of the 140 acre Rabot Estate and created a place where the sounds of nature replace the noise of day-to-day life, stimulating and inspiring relaxation like no other place on earth, overlooking the island’s iconic Piton mountains.

Rabot Hotel still has a strong connection with cacao and chocolate, and the hotel’s restaurant allows guests to experience cacao – cuisine. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savoury ingredient and for only the last 500 years as a sweet one.  The menu explores both uses, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit.  Clients can enjoy a ‘Tree to bar’ chocolate experience, explore the network of estate trails of simply relax with a cacoa-infused spa treatment

*Prices based on 2 adults sharing, including 3 nights at Rabot Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, and 7 nights at East Winds on an all-inclusive basis, private airport transfers and British Airways flights.
