Emerald Faarufushi is a paradise island set within a sheltered lagoon in the Raa Atoll, where turquoise waters lap gently on white sand beaches. Elegant accommodation, superb dining options and a great house reef mean that this resort ticks all the boxes for those looking for a Maldives holiday that combines luxury and indulgence with the opportunity to see some incredible marine life.
With just 80 villas set either on the beachfront or overwater, Emerald Faarufushi feels exclusive and intimate. Both the beach and overwater villas are minimalist in design and make use of natural woods and stone, creating an elegant yet homely space to unwind. The water villas are a great option for keen snorkellers, as you can see some great marine life just by heading down the steps from your terrace. There is also something very special about being able to look out over the calm lagoon whilst you relax in your oversized bath tub!
The Deluxe All Inclusive concept at Emerald Faarufushi is one of the things that really makes this island stand out. Guests have the flexibility to dine at any of the resort's restaurants as part of the all inclusive plan, with options ranging from Mediterranean fine dining and authentic Asian cuisine, to casual lunches at the Beach Club. The cuisine at each of the restaurants is varied and simply outstanding. Be sure to try the sushi and sashimi at La Asiatique! Teppanyaki is also included in the Deluxe All Inclusive, but this is very popular so be sure to book early.
Days at Emerald Faarufushi can be spent relaxing by the pool with a handcrafted cocktail, or exploring the sheltered lagoon on a kayak or paddle board. The superb house reef can be easily accessed from the jetty by Meditarraneo Restaurant, but you can also snorkel from the water villas or the beach. There is also a PADI dive centre offering a range of courses and excursions, allowing you to further explore the underwater world of the beautiful Raa Atoll.
The dining options at Emerald Faarufushi are incredible. It is a real luxury to have access to such a good choice of restaurants on a relatively small island. The food was outstanding, from delicious pizzas at the Beach Club to authentic Asian cuisine at Asiatique. I was also pleasantly surprised by how quiet the island felt, despite the resort being at full occupancy during our stay. If you are looking for understated luxury, gourmet dining and good snorkelling right from your water villa, I can’t recommend Faarufushi enough.
Emerald Faaraufushi has 80 villas, with 38 located on the beach and 42 perched on stilts over the lagoon. Villas feature minimalist and understated architecture and incorporate natural elements of stone and wood, complemented by decor with soft pastels tones. All villas offer air conditioning and ceiling fans, satellite TV, high speed Wi-Fi, king size beds, bathrooms with shower and bathtub, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, tea and coffee making facilities including a Nespresso machine and a stocked minibar.

Aqua Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers an international buffet, with cuisines ranging from Asian to Mediterranean. Beach Club Restaurant is open for lunch and offers a selection of pizzas, pasta and grilled cuisine served on the beachfront. In the evening, this restaurant becomes Carnivorous Restaurant which specialises in South American cuisine with a Brazilian steakhouse concept. Mediterraneo is an overwater restaurant specialising in Mediterranean cuisine for dinner. La Asiatique is open for dinner and serves a range of dishes inspired by Asian culinary traditions. Teppanyaki Grill is an exclusive venue offering live cooking at lunch and dinner. Sunset Pool Bar is open throughout the day and into the evening, and is the perfect place to enjoy a poolside cocktail. Located on the jetty beyond Mediterraneo Restaurant, Eclipse Bar is the ideal place to watch the sunset.
