Sugar Bay is a stylish all-inclusive resort in Barbados which caters extremely well for couples, families and groups thanks to the varied activities and facilities. The boho-chic resort has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with attentive staff always on hand to assist and a tranquil setting just outside Bridgetown. Located within the city's historic UNESCO World Heritage Site and bordering a 150 metre stretch of white sand beach, Sugar Bay is connected to the restaurants, shops and beautiful beaches of the south coast by a boardwalk.
There are 138 chic rooms and suites, each with a private balcony to admire views of the ocean, pools or gardens. Many of the rooms and suites are perfect for families including spacious suites which offer a separate living room with sofa bed, the largest of which can accommodate up to 6 people. Modern amenities include a mini fridge, flat screen TV, i-Pod dock, an in-room safe and toiletries from The White Company.
Sugar Bay offers a superb range of dining options with five restaurants and bars. Located beside the beach, Reef serves an international buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Colin’s Beach bar & Grill provides casual, al fresco dining for lunch or dinner in a setting that resembles a local rum shop. UMI is an elegant Japanese restaurant offering Asian fusion specialities in an adults-only setting on the hotel's first floor overlooking the swimming pool. Families are welcome to dine downstairs in the large lounge area. Sizzle Steakhouse serves the best cuts of beef, combining traditional accompaniments with the flavours of the Caribbean, while the Lazy Mongoose resembles a cosy English pub and serves local brews and late night snacks. All venues are included in Sugar Bay's all-inclusive package, although there might be supplements for some items and guests can only dine at UMI and Sizzle Steak twice per week. The Coffee Bean is a cafe that is not part of the all-inclusive package, serving a variety of hot and cold beverages as well as snacks and light lunches.
Alongside varied dining options at Sugar Bay, complimentary activities include beach volleyball, a games room and a host of non motorized watersports. Other attractions in the area include wind surfing, banana boat trips, scuba diving and swimming with turtles to name but a few. There are two spas within the property, Karma and Chateau de Beaute Spa, both offering a range of treatments while a beauty and hair salon is found in the resort's Chattel Village.
Also part of the all-inclusive package are crèche facilities for children aged from 4 months – 2 years, a Kids Club for ages 3 – 12 years and the Teen Club House for older children.
For couples, Sugar Bay offers a Sugar & Spice Wedding package including payment of the government fees as well as stunning, romantic details for that special day.

Sugar Bay has been a huge success after opening in November 2015, and I could certainly see why. The vibe is relaxed yet stylish, with colours and textures of the coastal environment brought into the design of the public areas of the resort, as well as the comfortable rooms. Children are particularly well-catered for and very welcome on the property - the creche taking infants from as young as 4 months, to 11 years old. There are several dining options including the one of the best Asian and Sushi restaurants on the island, the adults-only Umi. The large pool is in the shape of Barbados in case you want to boast of swimming around the island!
