The Sandpiper Barbados
The Sandpiper is one of our favourite hotels in Barbados. A member of ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’, this family run property boasts an excellent location beside a white sandy beach on the Platinum West Coast of Barbados.
Luxurious accommodation in tranquil tropical gardens
The Sandpiper is luxurious and secluded, surrounded by seven acres of lush tropical gardens filled with orchid and coconut trees and flowering bougainvillaea. The elegant rooms and suites blend contemporary design with traditional Caribbean charm to create comfortable and homely spaces. Our personal favourite are the two Beach House Suites which can be connected to form a larger suite ideal for families and boast a stunning oceanfront location.
Award winning cuisine
The hotel's award winning restaurant overlooks the beach and is open on three sides. It serves a fusion of European and Asian cuisine using fresh local ingredients and seafood. Al fresco lunches and cocktails are available on the beach from the charming Harold’s Bar, which has a lovely decking area extending towards the seafront. Guests can also dine at The Sandpiper’s sister hotel Coral Reef Club, which is just a short walk away. Our top tip would be to book part of your stay at The Sandpiper on half board and part on bed and breakfast - you can then sample the excellent cuisine at the two hotels as well as try some of the local restaurants.
Relaxing days in the sunshine
One of our favourite things about The Sandpiper are its beautiful grounds, where you can find two beautiful swimming pools and a floodlit tennis court. Complimentary non-motorised watersports are available from the beach, and you can also stroll over to Coral Reef Club to use their tranquil spa. Holetown and Barbados’ Platinum Coast is also right on your doorstep!
Our opinion
In my opinion The Sandpiper does everything very, very well. The location is great within walking distance of Holetown, the beach is beautiful and the waters calm and the grounds are expertly looked after but without feeling like they are overly manicured! I loved the laid back atmosphere of Harold’s Bar, perfect for an early evening drink, and dinner at the main restaurant was one of the highlights of my trip.

Garden View Room
- Nestled within the gardens
- These rooms offer a king or twin beds and a spacious balcony
- Maximum occupancy: 2 adults
One Bedroom Suite
- These spacious suites are dotted around the gardens, offering either garden or partial ocean views
- Featuring a bedroom with king or twin beds, a separate living room with a sofa bed and kitchenette and a luxurious bathroom
- Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 children
Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite
- Similar to the One Bedroom Suites but set towards the front of the property
- Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 children
Two Bedroom Suite
- These spacious suites offer tropical garden views from a large patio or balcony
- Featuring two bedrooms (king or twin beds available), two bathrooms, a separate living room with sofa bed and a kitchen
- Maximum occupancy: 5 adults
Beach House Suite
- These suites are located on the edge of the ocean guests and offer beautiful sea views from a large covered patio complete with a wet bar
- Inside there is a separate living room with a sofa bed, a bedroom with a king-size bed,a dressing area and a bathroom
- Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 children
Curlew Suite
- The Sandpiper’s most popular suite thanks to its breathtaking views and expansive oceanfront terrace, complete with a wet bar and private plunge pool
- Elegant interiors include a spacious living room, bedroom, dressing room and luxurious bathroom with a large walk-in shower and separate bathtub
- Maximum occupancy: 2 adults
Tree Top Suite (Whimbrel or Sanderling)
- These suites are the Sandpiper’s most luxurious accommodations, boasting a large covered terrace with sea views, a wet bar and a private plunge pool
- Inside there is a living room with a TV and media centre, a luxurious bathroom with bathtub and a separate walk-in shower, and a bedroom with dressing area
- Maximum occupancy: 2 adults (guests under the age of 12 are not permitted in these suites)
Hotel Information
Location: The Sandpiper is approximately a 45 minute drive from Barbados airport
Children: Children are accepted all-year round at the Sandpiper, but children under the age of 5 are not permitted in the lounge or restaurant after 7pm
Facilities: Two swimming pools, fitness centre, tennis, watersports including snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, Hobie Cat sailing, laser sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and inflatable doughnut rides, salon and boutique. Guests have access to all facilities at Coral Reef Club, Sandpiper’s sister resort, including the spa
Dining: Stays at Sandpiper are on a bed & breakfast or half board basis. The Restaurant is an elegant dining venue with a keen focus on locally sourced cuisine, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Harold’s Beach Bar is open for lunch and dinner and serves al fresco lunches and casual dinners
