One of our most popular hotels in Barbados, Colony Club by Elegant Hotels is set within seven acres of tropical gardens with soaring palm and mahogany trees, as well as a cascade of four, lagoon shaped swimming pools. The hotel is on a white, sandy beach on the island’s platinum west coast, twenty miles north of Bridgetown and a fifteen minute walk from Holetown.
While being an elegant and stylish hotel, Colony Club by Elegant Hotels has a relaxed atmosphere and welcomes families throughout the year except in February when only children over 13 years old are allowed. Each of the 96 rooms and suites has its own private terrace or balcony, some with direct access to the lagoon pool and others located just steps away from the sea. The luxurious rooms are decorated in an elegant manor with modern amenities such as a Nespresso machine.
The range of dining options include Laguna, where guests can dine outdoors on dishes that feature herbs from the hotel’s own organic garden, and the Sunset Bar & Deck, where weekly theme nights feature live entertainment. Guests can sip a refreshing beverage at the swim up pool bar, choose a healthy drink at the daytime juice bar or enjoy a sunset cocktail at the beachfront bar.
As Colony Club is a member of the Elegant Hotels group, guests are invited to use the boat transfer to dine at the other hotels (subject to purchasing a day pass) and make use of their facilities.
The concierge is happy to organise cultural trips to discover more about the history of Barbados and can also arrange ‘Bait to Plate’ fishing trips for up to four guests to explore the sea life on the reef and to catch their dinner – all accompanied by one of the hotel’s chefs!
Having stayed at Colony Club three times now, it has become a bit of a home from home for me. Clearly they are doing something right for me to want to keep returning! The resort has a colonial feel throughout, set amongst very tropical lush gardens, with a lagoon style pool that meanders down towards the beach.
I very much enjoy the garden view rooms and suites, as they offer a pleasing outlook over the vegetation and pool, and also give a good degree of privacy. The food is good here, and a must for meat lovers is the Steak night on a Wednesday, and Lobster and Jazz on a Thursday evening- Kelly on the Sax is fantastic!
The resort is set on a lovely stretch of beach offering a good range of water sports, with the board walk located at the end of the beach should you fancy a stroll down to Hole Town, where you will find some great shops, bars and restaurants. If I could offer a little tip, it would be to take advantage of the island tour which takes places on a Wednesday morning, taking in St Nicholas Abbey, Huntes Gardens and Bathsheba over on the East coast. The tour is complimentary, with just the entrance fees chargeable at the Abbey and Gardens.
If you are looking for a relaxed quality stay on the West Coast, Colony Club is hard to beat!
